Ever feel like career advice just doesn’t get you? We did too. That’s why we built inyourroots®. A community-driven platform connecting young people (16–25 years old) with real, meaningful opportunities in small businesses, SMEs, and startups across Hertfordshire, Essex, and Suffolk.
Our vision
Why We Exist
The problem is simple:
- Young people are told to follow the “traditional” path—uni, CVs, and ticking boxes but so many end up feeling lost, overlooked, or just… uninspired.
- Local businesses want fresh talent but struggle to find young people who actually fit their team, culture, and values, not just a job title.
We think it’s time for a change. We’re here to help young people discover their natural strengths (no more “just another CV!”), and to help small businesses find the kind of talent that grows with them.

“I started inyourroots® because I’ve seen too many young people boxed in by grades, CVs, and outdated advice, left feeling stuck, doubting their worth, while local businesses lose out on incredible talent right under their noses.
I believe everyone deserves the chance to discover what makes them unique, and every business should have the opportunity to grow with people who genuinely care.
But I also know that schools and old systems can’t always give young people the real-world support and guidance they need. That’s why inyourroots® exists, to fill those gaps, champion our future generation of workers, and create new ways for them to thrive.
